Love this photo

I've scrapped my little cockatiel Gem before, she is getting close to a year old now and until recently, was doing a bit of flying because she was so pretty I just didn't want to clip her wings. alas she flew into a light fixture and nearly gave me a heart attack (the light was on at the time). So now she can't get any lift. But before that, she had been taking advantage of her ability and flapping over and landing on my head. The ONE place I don't like for her to land. ;)

I finally stood still long enough for a pic and just had to scrap it.

Also this past Saturday after work I got to take my friend Lila out for Ice Cream.

Most of the materials for these two layouts are from Amy Tangerine's Plus one and the April debut kit from Clique Kits. The yellow pen I used for journalling is a Sakura Souffle pen. I just love these pens and have had them for many years and am just now getting them out and using them. The background paper with the diamond pattern is from Cosmo Cricket's Creative Surfaces pad, the pink matches Plus 1 perfectly!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I CAN'T wait for Thursday's Project share, I've been dying to share it with you for months!

Welcome to the April Pep Rally!

If you have come from Gina's blog as part of the Clique Kits April Pep Rally, then welcome to my little blog! If not, then why not go ahead and hop along, it's not too many and the  projects with inspire you to create! I am thrilled to be a part of the first official Clique Kits Pep Rally and this month's challenge was: Tell us something about yourself!

The photo is a recent "selfie" I took of myself after I got all dressed to go out dancing with the other silly people I work with. We all went out to a place called the Clarendon Ballroom and wound up staying out way later than I planned. SO MUCH FUN! I do like this selfie... and I don't think I take too many, it's nice to see the changes in how I look from time to time.

Items used in the layout are mostly from the debut kit from Clique Kits:  Debutante. The flair and printables on the page are EXCLUSIVE to Clique Kits! I am LOVING using those Amy Tangerine plus one papers, and of course those butterflies are from my most used Martha Stewart Punch! (Also I am so proud I used some of those Pinkfresh Studio wooden hearts, and didn't just hoard the lot of them!!) Thanks so much for looking and here is the blog roll:

Sometimes you just have to scrap it out!

From time to time I just need to have a pretty conversation with myself about stuff running around through my head. This layout is one of those. It doesn't have a title, the papers are from Amy Tangerine's Plus one collection. The rub ons and pink foam Thickers in the Kal Barteski font are on here as well. All the journalling and some of the doodling were done with my Sakura Souffle pen in orange. The journalling isn't easy to read, but as this is some emotional stuff that is mostly me working through my thoughts, I'm ok with that.
All products on this layout (that aren't my souffle pen) came from Clique Kits if you haven't checked them out, you SHOULD! Awesome kits, INCREDIBLE customer service! These girls are where it's at!!

I went a bit wild with the layering of papers... and I LOVE that paper with the frames. I'm thinking some frame stamps would be good to have as much as I enjoyed cutting these out and journalling all over them. Do you ever journal out your feelings? Do you use an art journal rather than a layout? Do you just keep a journal/diary?

DC Memorials

I'm still scrapping photos of when Monica came and stayed with me! I had some photos that I LOVE from the Korean and Vietnam war memorials and so I blew them up and cropped them to my fav parts of the pics then added minimal embellishing (for me anyway) and did lots of journalling (look at my crooked journalling, LOL).

The Stickers and letters are from Chickaniddy Crafts and the other pages I've done from Mon's visit include items from Chickaniddy Crafts and Elle's Studio (and a sticker from Pink Paislee) and the February  kit from Scrapbook Circle "Hello Today" (which is sold out.)
I'm working on putting together a pocket page from the rest of my phone photos from her trip to go alongside this layout in my album. I thought I had printed all the photos I needed, but I found I need to print a couple more so I think I'll have that page to show you on Saturday. What are you working on right now? I've been playing with a lot of stamp techniques, but I haven't really made anything, just playing with techniques on scrap paper.

Comic Book Influenced minibook

Since I decided that I was going to start posting things in my Etsy store again, I decided to pick up a Recollections Paper Pad that I've been eyeing with no idea whatsoever what I would do with this much paper. I made the cutest little minibook that would be great for documenting time at some con, fav comic book store, or a superhero themed party (kid or adult). Here are the pics:

I've also completed a layout that I'll be sharing with you later in the week and I hope to get at least one more layout finished while I'm here. The only thing I don't like about scrapping at a petsitting client's house is that ALL my paints and things aren't here... but actually I find that it helps to have less things to choose from. That's the beauty of kit clubs and scrapping from a kit, it gives you some set things to choose from and you can just start there and GO! ( adding bits if you "need") them, but otherwise you know it's all set to go together. Ok, off to walk some dogs before I go to work!

(also if someone like American Crafts had this paperline out earlier and someone knows the name of it, can you tell me?)

The link to my Etsy Store is in the sidebar, but the direct link to this book is here.

Entering Lawnscaping Challenge number 79!

I have been away from home petsitting and ITCHING to try out some of the techniques I learned at TRUESTAMP 2014. OH my goodness! I was so glad I was not within reach of my stamping supplies while I was participating, but all the good new things I want to try out (and buy...LOL). LOVED that event. If you like online classes I highly reccommend!

Anyway the challenge this time over at Lawnscaping is Try a new Technique.

The Lawn Fawn gang of Kelly Marie and Chari taught a class at TS2014 highlighting interactive cards. I used the technique shown by Kelly Marie to make this card for a very special and "cardworthy" person who has a birthday coming up.

Here is another pic of the card lying flat... it's hard to get good photos of shaker cards...

I used Sharp backdrops to clear emboss the background onto watercolor paper and used various mists to do a soft wash of colors for the background (the front piece of paper is actually green but it is so light it doesn't really read green in the photo). Then I stamped out the hats from Hats off to you and colored them with the same mists used in the background. The banner is from Home Sweet Home and the sentiment  is also from Hats off to you. I used the Technique of using Matte Medium to form the twiddly bits at the top of the hats... and the poofs as well. Then I used Stardust Stickles to add a hint of glitter. The sequins came out of a pack of Lawn Ornaments that I had bought in December and I used the white and green ones, along with some seed beads from my stash in my shaker. The shaker is the actual front of the card and I am SO happy at how it turned out.

Working away... mixed media AHOY!

So an additional canvas and added it to my Etsy shop.
I used Art Anthology Sorbet paint to adhere the paper to the canvas. Then using my favorite Rebekah Meier stencil by Crafter's Workshop, added some black gesso and acrylic paint for the painted butterfly. I used Tattered Angels Glimmer mist to paint some Prima Paintables paper and punched some butterflies with my favorite butterfly punches by Martha Stewart. I added some lacy pearls by Prima then trimmed my Thickers so they'd be short enough to fit on my sweet little canvas. I LOVE how this turned out, and I'm loving working in this 3x3 mini size.

TFL... Link to my Etsy store is over at the top right.

Have a fab day!
